This year I plan on learning 100x as much about money as I did last year. That sounds huge, maybe it is, but I am determined. Last year I learnt quite a lot, however, there was also quite some distraction going on. This year started off with a whole lot less distraction, let me tell you why later.
Last year I did read several books. I find it important to read a lot, so many wise words have been put to paper. The books I want to highlight extra are as following:
- How to Win Friends and Influence People written by Dale Carnegie
- Nice Girls Don’t Get the Corner Office: Unconscious Mistakes Women Make That Sabotage Their Careers written by Lois P. Frankel
The book of Dale Carnegie I want to read again and then write an item about it, to be continued. The book gave me so much information and learning points, it was too much to grasp at once.
Lois writes very nice and many women will recognize themselves in her stories. Last years I followed a job coaching course. Just because I didn’t feel completely at home within my job position. Personally, I find it money and time well spent. The book first lets you partake a test and then points out mistakes you make and from which you can learn. Every point shows mistakes others made, with examples that made them grow stronger. By reading this book, you will also grow stronger. Delightful to recognize yourself in others and find clear guidance on how you can grow stronger too.
Why I mentioned fewer distractions this year, I had my last day in the office end 2018. Time to really focus on developing myself and not need to divide my attention between a busy job and my personal growth. Of course, this is not possible for everyone, but my partner and I saved enough to take a temporarily break. Besides,I see this as an investment in my future. What could be more important than investing in yourself and your future? I look to my future without my regular job with much positivity.
How am I going to learn 100x more this year about money than I did last year? I started to read more articles online. You can just keep hopping from one to the other. One website I want to point out to you in particular is Kiplinger. This side shows stocks that are doing quite interesting last few years. Just be careful about stocks always, but I liked studying these few. Looked how they were doing in the last 10 years. Most websites show you up until five years back, however, in 2008/2009 is when the last crisis hit, and socks were at a very low point. Don’t just look three years back, look thoroughly.
This year I want to experiment more in stocks, already started a little last year. This year I want to look into as many possibilities to make money as possible. The first one I want to try is crowdfunding, more about this soon.
Besides I want to read way more books, last year I did not take as much time as I wanted to. Why not? I love reading!
A good start, because the end of January I already read two books. Keep it up!
Lastly, I would like to find a financial adviser. It seems smart to find someone who is already knowledgeable in the ways of money and whom I can pump for information. How should I grow with only the internet as my guide? It seems wise to also learn from people. Besides, I would like to get to know more ‘business people’. Where do you meet them? I will look into where to meet them in the coming weeks.
Do you also have such a good feeling about the new year?!
